Trains and dyes

One of the current local stories in Duluth is a truck that got hit by the scenic RR train or whatever it is. The truck was parked on the tracks due to a back up at a stop sign. Luckily nobody was hurt (I haven't heard this but I assume the driver had plenty of time to get out of his vehicle since this train isn't the fastest annd plus it was slowing down even more in hopes of stopping in time). Ummm...guess that person learned the hard way that if traffic is backed up, and there is no room for your vehicle to be totally over the tracks...best to stay totally behind the tracks. Duh.

Another current news story is about the dyes in foods, especially foods marketed to kids, that they say may cause harm. One of the specifics they listed was hyperactivity. I haven't heard too many details on this though. The dye is in products such as juice, sugary cereals (fruity pebbles for example) and candies (like skittles). While I am no expert, and I haven't looked into this news story much, and I don't know the specifics of the studies that were done...my first thought was wait, you just came to a conclusion that colorful, sugary junk causes kids to be hyperactive? What a revelation....ever think that maybe the SUGAR is causing the increase in activity? Yeah, all that food has the dye in common. Because all those foods are marketed to kids. Kids love sugar. Kids like colorful stuff. It is all linked, ya know?
But like I said, I am no expert and I don't mean to say that maybe there isn't some validity to the possibility that the dyes in these foods are questionable. I just wanted to share my very first thought upon first watching the story.

And now, it is bedtime. I am always excited to go relax in our nice new sheets. They are SO comfy....Good night, and have a great day....
