Ultrasound RESULTS...gender included :-)

We are very excited to announce that we are having a....

GIRL!
Yes, another little girl is headed our way and we are thrilled. I was honestly going to be happy either way because I can think of positives to having either another girl, or a boy. But we are getting a girl and can't wait to meet her! I'm halfways there....lol

The ultrasound was great. Everything measured right on track, and looked healthy. All the limbs were measuring good, the heart, the brain, etc. The heart rate was 149 or so. She was very active...much more active than Kaitlyn had been at her ultrasound. (Which I am not surprised about, because just in general I have thought this one seems more active...I feel her moving and bee-bopping around a lot more than I did with Kaitlyn. I can even already feel her from the outside now and then). Another difference this time is that she was not shy to show off her girly bits...Kaitlyn on the other hand was hiding them a little and although the u/s tech guessed that it was a girl, she was not near certain. This time it was way obvious. 3 lines = girl, and there were 3 lines...as clear as clear could be.

After the ultrasound we had our monthly appointment and I was excited to learn that I gained 3 lbs just like my doctor had wanted me to. I never thought I would be so proud of myself for gaining 3 lbs :-) So now I am only 12 lbs down from my pre-pregnancy weight, instead of 15. Go, me!!

My next appointment is May 19th, I will be 24 weeks. I can't believe how fast this is going!!

Baby’s weight and baby clothes

Baby’s weight and baby clothes

I forgot to mention that the baby weighed about 14 oz! She is almost a whole pound already :-)

And I just got done going through a few of Kaitlyn's old clothes...I cannot believe she was so tiny at one point. The smallest newborn item (a sleeper) we had used to be HUGE on her. I held it up to one of her current sleepers and could not believe how much she has grown. Awwwww! And then I was thinking about how now all of those clothes will get a second use out of them! That will help out in finances a little, although of course we will still buy a few things here and there for the new baby anyways...just because...well it is fun. :-)

Lovely Minnesota weather!

So just a few days ago, my friends and family to the north got blasted with anywhere from 1-2+ feet of snow. IN APRIL mind you. In Duluth we got almost nothing (1-2 inches). We were laughing at those poor Iron Rangers. But look who is laughing now! Another storm...although it is supposed to dump a foot of snow on the Iron Range again...supposedly Duluth will be hardest hit, primarily due to that darn lake effect. When winds come in at Duluth directly off lake superior during a snowstorm...it can really cause some problems.

Tonight I am at work wondering if I can get home when my shift is over (about 3 hours left)...we are having a blizzard, with 50-60 mph windgusts. They forecast 12-18 inches of snow with locally greater amounts. There is one cool thing going on, and that is thunder/lightening! During a blizzard. Very cool and somewhat rare. I can remember seeing it once before, and that was just last year or the year before. And if I recall correctly, it was somewhat brief. However tonight, I have been seeing lightening flashes off and on all night. I have heard thunder a few times (although I am sure many times the wind is covering up the sound). It is kind of exciting. Not exciting enough to make up for the fact that I might have to sleep at work today for my shift tonight...meaning by the time I go home I will have been stuck here for 34 hours. lol

Oops...it is finally 5 am which I have been waiting for, because the local news comes on and I want to hear what they say is going on. Have a great day! Sorry about your 2nd winter storm in a few days, Iron Range. But at least you aren't having quite the blizzard we are. Be glad for your distance from the Lake :-)

Update (4-12-08 @ 4am) -
So we only got like 9 inches of snow, but the wind was CRAZY. Duluth had 62 mph wind gusts and the sustained winds were 40 something mph. I did end up stuck at work, but not all day like I was afraid. I went home about noon, once Andy determined for me that I would be able to get onto our street. Before I left work I also had to walk down the road (in the blizzard, which sucked) to see if there was a snowbank on the end of our street where the plow went by on the other street. There was one, but not too bad. I figured I could get over it. And I did. There was only one iffy time, that was before I even got to the end of the street...the tire tracks in the snow were a little deeper than I thought and the snow was dragging on the bottom of my car...apparantly the other vehicles to go by had been a little bigger. I tried to keep going as fast as possible to get over it but I was worried it was going to get too deep and my car would just get stuck there in the middle of the road. Luckily I made it! There were some times where the wind would blow and I literally could not see anything, but I live fairly close to work so it turned out fine. So I got home, ate lunch and went to bed...then got up at 8 pm to get ready for work, again. lol, fun times!
