The things they say!

Having a talking toddler is quite fun and interesting sometimes. Of course, we don't have actual conversations. But Kaitlyn definitely has a word for everything, and many times she even uses the proper word! The thing is, it doesn't always come out exactly how it should. Example: We were looking at her big animal book. She was pointing out all sorts of animals and telling me what they were. "Puppy". "Kitty". "Bird" "Gui-Guin" (penguin) "bear" "fee" (fish) "cow"...and then she points to the fox, and says it, only it sounds more like a certain swear word. She knows many animals but I didn't realize she knows a fox. And I didn't expect to hear what I heard. We had that same problem with "frog" for awhile, but we taught her to say "froggy" instead, so it is all better now. lol

Another amusing thing she did the other day...she stuck a finger in each nostril and said "booger". I had her take her fingers out, but she put them right back in and said "booger" again. Turns out, she did in fact have boogers. We got them out a few minutes later. Sorry if TMI...but any parent shouldn't be phased by booger talk, so I won't worry too much about offending anybody.

I have also noticed her saying "Come on" a lot. Like I might say when I am trying to get her to come to me. As in, "Come on, Kaitlyn. Let's go!" Well now, she has started saying it too...only she says it to her toys. "Come on", as she is dragging Tigger across the floor behind her. Too funny!

Picture Sunday!

Deer Hunting 2008

So, you know how it is... You see that big buck that makes your heart beat a little fast at just the wrong time. Loading my gun in the car, I saw a doe behind the house. So I put the gun in my car, started walking over to it. Hear some crunching, and BINGO, I found the buck that ripped up my maple tree... the Friday before deer hunting season at 12:45 in the afternoon. Needless to say, I did get a deer, it wasn't a buck.

I couldn't get close enough to tell, but I think it is only 8, but is a nice 8 at that. Attached below are a few more pictures. Kinda blury, camera man was shaking a little bit :-).

Oops, it has been a week!

I didn't realize I was getting so behind on the blog...things have been crazy busy with Andy going out of town for 4 days to hunt last week, and having lots of time to make up for work. Then with me preparing to go back to work (tonight) and host a bridal shower/bachelorette party this past weekend, for my dear friend Chelsea.

So what is new? Kaitlyn is saying more and more phrases, such as the other day when she showed me Brianna's hat and said "Momma. Baby. Hat." So cute. There have been a lot of other phrases like that but I can't remember them right now, maybe Andy can refresh my memory at some point.

Brianna is doing well...growing like a weed. Today she will experience a day at daycare for the first time, while I hopefully get some sleep in preparation for my first night back to work tonight. I am sad, but I have to admit I am also excited to get several hours of sleep with no interruptions or worries.

Ok, now here are a few new pics!

Finally, a decent family picture:

One more family pic:

And here is Kaitlyn in Brianna's bouncer. What a stinker.

Countdown

Today I was bummed to realize that I have just 1 week left of maternity leave. Not that I had "forgotten" but I was sort of putting it out of my mind. Maybe if I put it out of my mind long enough, the day would never come? Ah, if only! It is good in a way, of course, because we need the money coming in again. And I have to admit it will be nice to have some time away, and I do miss certain things about work. It's just that it came so fast! Maternity leave last time was the same length but it seemed to last way longer. This time it just flew by - and this last week is going to fly by at lightening speed, because I am so busy this week and weekend.

I just returned from a 4 day stay at my parent's house, while Andy went hunting. Unfortunately, I was sick, my mom was sick, and Brianna was sick. We had fun anyways, but it is always nice to get home.

The girls and their latest adventures

Today Brianna rolled over from her tummy to her back for the first time! That was pretty unexpected and exciting. I got that last half of it on video. We were doing tummy time and she was holding her head up way high, so I was trying to get a pic. Just as I took a pic, her head went back down and she ended up on her side. So I started the video and captured her going the rest of the way, from her side to her back.

She also had her 2 month appointment today. Her stats:
Weight: 11 lbs, 12 oz (72%)
Height: 23 inches (72%)
Head: 15 1/4 inches (47%)
Her height and weight are perfectly proportioned :-) Also she is proving to be much bigger than her older sister, who was 10 lbs and some odd ounces at her 2 month check up, and just 21 inches or so.

Speaking of her older sister - Kaitlyn has really started to put two words together - for example "Hi, kitty" or "Go side" (go outside). Her pronunciation is getting better and better and it is a blast listening to her learn to talk more and more. She really has a huge vocabulary and continues to make mom and dad so proud!

Election 08'

All I can say is, I am SO glad that it is almost over! The ads, the phone calls, the mailings...it was driving me crazy.

Happy voting!
