3 is a charm
Ok, 3 is a charm at least when it comes to Kaitlyn and potty training. On her birthday, she went to daycare wearing big girl underwear. When I picked her up, she was still wearing them! And the rest is history. She is officially potty trained and only wearing pull ups at night. There has been a couple of accidents but no big deal. So...GREAT JOB KAITLYN!

3 YEARS OLD!
Yesterday - February 17th - was Kaitlyn's 3rd birthday. I can't believe she is three years old! In the morning, she woke up and promptly started singing "Happy Birthday". When we all got home from daycare/work at the end of the day, we had a special birthday dinner (Spaghetti, it was her choice) and birthday cupcakes. She blew out her candle and practiced more for her party on Saturday. (Turns out her sister Brianna is a candle-blowing-out expert. No idea where she learned to take a big breath and blow enough air out to the flame to make it go out, but she does.) Then Kaitlyn opened a present (the rest are being saved for her party). She seemed happy with it - the book, "Where the Wild Things Are". It is her favorite book at daycare so when I saw it, I HAD to get it. I'm a sucker for shopping for my kids.....

Hi Ho Cheerios
Today I am home with Brianna due to her running a nasty, stubborn fever. It is currently down after some ibuprofen, but awhile ago she was just upset and wouldn't let me do anything for her. All she would do was cry and scream, hold her arms out to me but then when I picked her up, push her hands and feet up against me like she was trying to get away. I tried everything - water, milk, a nap, rocking, walking around with her, playing various games and with various toys...Finally I tried giving her some cheerios. That did the trick. She ate some and then spent the next 45 minutes playing with them. She transferred them from her snack cup to a toy pitcher that goes with the play kitchen. Then she transferred them to a different bowl, then to the floor, then split them back between the original snack cup, and a play cup. Along the way she still ate a few here and there. She brought them from one end of the room to the other. Now there are many less than we started out with, but as I scan the room quickly I can see they are on the floor by me, on the floor by the couch, on the floor by the girl's little Dora couch, and on the Dora couch itself. Yes, it is a mess and there are probably crushed cheerios I'm not even seeing. BUT...it made her happy, spared my ears for awhile, and gave us peace.
Thank you, Cheerios.
Thank you, Cheerios.

A tree of a different kind
While we were eating supper tonight, Kaitlyn randomly asked out of nowhere "What does pizza grow on?"Oh how I love the random comments and questions of a (almost) 3 year old!
Oh and we explained to her that pizza is made but does not grow on trees or from plants or anything like that.
Though sometimes I wish it did.
