It really hit me today, at 36 weeks along, that at the most I have 3 weeks, 1 day until baby is here. That is if I make it to my scheduled c-section. Wow. Time has gone by SO fast. We have gotten a lot done, yet still have so much to do.
The room is almost done - Andy has cleared it out, painted it, and just last night put the crib together. The rug and blinds and curtains that my mom ordered are here. My parents were here today and my dad started putting Kaitlyn's new dresser together, and her changing table will then move to baby's room. We still need to put up the curtains, various wall decor, move the glider from Kaitlyn's room to Baby G's, and find a door. (Yeah, the room is currently door-less).
The closet is probably all me, since I like organizing - I still have a lot to do, but the bottom line was that I first needed to sort and wash all of the clothes...both brand new purchases and Kaitlyn's old stuff. My mom helped me to sort and de-tag today, and hopefully within the next week I will get everything washed. Once that is done, I can put things away and get organized. I don't mind though - what maternal minded woman doesn't love baby clothing?! And there is a lot of it - I forgot how much stuff we have been through since Kaitlyn was born...wow. There are piles and piles of clothes now overtaking my dining room (until I have Andy bring them to the basement so I can wash them). That is definitely a plus to having another girl - we don't need to buy any clothes. Of course, I have anyways. But only for fun, and because I didn't want Baby G to be in 100% hand-me-downs. I mean, hand-me-downs are great when they are in good condition. I LOVE rummage sales (even though I am picky). But a new baby deserves some new stuff too, right?! In any case, we have enough baby girl stuff to last 10 baby girls, I think. So anyways - if this baby had been a boy, I would have been thrilled with the opportunity to buy a ton of new clothes, but it would not have been as easy on our bank account!
We still have to get the infant car seat bases back into our cars and buy a mattress for the crib. I have to wash the car seat and bouncer and swing, since they have been in storage for a year. And last but not least, I have to check and see what small but essential items we may still be missing...stuff like infant gas drops to have on hand, lotion, diaper creme, etc. Once the changing table is set up I will see that it gets stocked with everything.
So that is where we are as far as being prepared. Coming right along, but still a ways to go. Which is scary since Andy's guess for the baby's birth is August 17th. Let's hope he is wrong, because that is only 5 days from now. lol
