37 week appointment

Tomorrow I am officially considered to be "full term" - 37 weeks. Very exciting! Even if Baby G does not decide to pick her own birthday, we only have 2 weeks and 2 days left until the big day.

My appointment today was a bit exciting, as well. First the boring stuff - There is not much progress (a "fingertip"dilated which they basically consider to be nothing) and 30% effaced. Baby very low (already knew that!) at a -2 station. I am measuring 38 cm which is 1 cm of growth since last week, so that's perfect. I did not really gain anything since last week so I am still sitting at a total weight gain of around 10 lbs from pre-pregnancy, or 25 if you count it from what I was after I had lost the weight in the beginning. My blood pressure was excellent as usual at 100/60. (In fact, it was a different nurse than usual taking my blood pressure, and she actually felt the need to double check that it was in the range of what I normally am, which it was).

The exciting part came when she was taking the heart rate. She spent quite awhile on it (partly because of baby moving around so much it was hard to get) but also because at times she thought it went a little low. It was varying between the 120's and slightly less. So, she sent me for a non-stress test just to double check that all was well. (After what happened with Kaitlyn, I said YES anything having to do with the heart rate, check it out!) The non stress test went well. The base heart rate is around 120, which is the low end of what they consider normal. But every time the baby moves, it goes up which is a good sign that she is getting plenty of oxygen. And boy did the baby move. So much that the nurse had to keep adjusting the monitor and eventually just held it by hand. Baby G was making my stomach bloop all over the place and even made the nurse laugh a couple of times. I had to press a button each time she moved, and I sure did make good use of that button.

So yeah. They were fine with the results and said it is okay that the base rate is where it is, since they are seeing really good acceleration with each movement.

That's about it for now. I am hoping to get a lot done today so I better get going on that.
