Blogging, myspace layouts, Baby G’s nursery, blah blah.

Blogging

Yesterday Andy asked me why don't I use an actual blog site like blogspot or something. If I did that, what use would myspace's blog feature be anymore? I like how simple it is and the fact that I already know how to use it. But lately I have been blogging more often (good way to pass the time while I am in the midst of a boring shift - or a good way to unwind right before bed). Should I start using an actual blog site instead of myspace? What would I call it? How many people actually read my blogs anyways? I know a few of you who do because you comment regularly or semi-regularly.

Give me a quick comment if you read my blogs sometimes but don't normally make yourself known. Come out of the myspace shadows! Just a "Hi" will do. I know there is someone out there, because I can see the of views and there are usually several a day. And do you think I should just keep it to myspace for now, or should I expand out into the real blogging world? I imagine that once I have 2 little girls 18-19 months apart, I will have plenty of adventures to blog about...
(though less time to do it in).

Myspace layouts
Do you notice I finally changed my layout for the first time in AGES? It was between that one and another one...I still could change, I don't know. I am very picky about this. What are my requirement? Well:

1. A layout has to be fun but easy to read (no pink writing on orange background).
2. Nothing that has moving extras, because that only gives people a headache (for example, little hearts falling all around + animated sparkly headlines + a long heart trail after the cursor).
3. I hate when the layout itself is really busy but there is no solid background for the text so you are trying to read words which are situated over multi colored patterns and stuff...it is impossible to read! You will notice that any background I pick will always have solid colored boxes where any text goes (about me, music, friends, comments, etc).
4. I also personally dislike too many extra images/polls/"I am 88% slutty" kind of things, because it takes a long time to load on a lot of people's computers. If there is enough of that crap it even causes computers to crash. Less is more people!
5. I have to make sure that the "Home" link, along with all those other ones that go across the top, still work. Some layouts cause the "Home" link to be overridden by a link to the website where you got your layout. I hate being on someone's page and trying to click home, only to be taken to some random stupid myspace layout site.
6. I hate when the site that made/offers the layout is plastered all over the place. Trust me, if you look around you can find layouts where the site isn't plastered all over. Obviously they need to have their name on it somewhere for advertising purposes, but not all are so...in your face.
7. No single images tiled all over the page. Yuck!

With my pickiness in mind, I even saved the code for my old layout in case I chicken out and change my mind or in case I am just not satisfied with a new layout. Yeah, it's only myspace so big whoopin deal right? But all of this critical layout decision making is passing my time while I try to stay awake so that is a good thing!

Speaking of staying awake - my strategy for staying awake is starting to fail me...I can feel myself getting sleepy. If I stay here long enough I will fall asleep right here at the computer like I did a couple of weeks ago!

Baby G's room
Oh one more thing to update you on as if you care....We started stage 1 of "Project Baby G's nursery". Well, Andy started it. By moving one of the desks downstairs and setting up our new "office" area. We now offically have our "office" in our living/dining room and are using the new computer 100%. The two old computers are sitting lonely and disconnected up in the soon-to-be nursery. The next part of this stage is to remove the rest of the crap from the room...a couple of full bookcases, a file cabinet, another desk, the computers, and tons of other various stuff. Once the room is empty, I will clean out the closet. We also will need to take out the carpeting, paint, get the furniture, decorate, find a new place for the cat litter (which isn't in the main room but it is in an adjoining "room" and there is no door between)...it seems like so much to do with so little time left!

YIKES!
