I've been a bad blogger and not kept you up to date on...well, anything at all. I have so much to say about my little girls lately. They amaze me each and every day!
I am so proud of Kaitlyn and how smart she is. She is a great talker and and I can always count on her for some entertainment. For example, out of nowhere she will say "I like milk, daddy". She cracks me up. She can count up to 13 (often times, she will count out loud to herself while in her crib before a nap or when she wakes in the morning) and she knows the alphabet. She knows blue, red, purple, green, yellow, brown, white, pink, and orange. She knows square, rectangle, triangle, oval, circle, star, heart, and diamond. She knows the words to many songs, including favorites such as "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "I love you" (the Barney song). These are just things off the top of my head - I could never say all there is to say about how smart this little girl is :-) Of course, I'm her mother! But she really is smart.
She is a little sweetheart and gives lots of hugs and kisses. She loves to cuddle up and read a book with us. When she wants to read more, she will let us know and ask "Another one?" And of course, it is hard to say no even when it is past her bedtime. Speaking of bedtime, she continues to be a great sleeper although we will see if that changes once we move her into a toddler bed sometime in the coming months.
She is still routinely going pee pee on the potty during the day, but has only gone poo on the potty once as of yet, and that was awhile ago. She loves noodles, chicken nuggets, ice cream, fruits, milk, and luckily good old fashioned water.
Oh and Kaitlyn loves her cousin Taylor and friends at daycare. She talks about them all the time. She always wants to see pictures of Taylor on the computer and sometimes will ask about going to see her. When they do get together, they have so much fun. They color together, run around together, hug and kiss....with the occasional toddler fight over toys, of course. That is to be expected with 2 smart little 2 year old girls though.
Brianna is getting SO big...she is now almost 7.5 months old and close to crawling. She gets way up on her hands, but hasn't quite gotten up on her knees yet. She loves to be handed a toy she can play with and shove in her mouth every which way, and she is a HUGE cuddle bug. She also really likes sitting up on the floor to play with things, although she still needs someone there with her to steady her a little or catch her when she starts to flop over to one side!
She is very vocal when she wants something and will use a crazy high pitched screech to let you know about it! So far of the solids she has tried, she seems to enjoy applesauce the most. She is now back to sleeping through the night, every night after a few rough patches during various colds and pneumonia. Brianna is a very smiley, happy baby and less of a "drama queen" than Kaitlyn was at her age. And Kaitlyn! You can tell Brianna really looks up to Kaitlyn already. She is always watching her, smiling at her, and laughing at her. It sure will be great fun (and totally crazy) once Brianna is mobile and starts chasing after Kaitlyn. And it really is cool to see how different their personalities already seem to be shaping out to be. No matter how you look at it, I love them both so very much.
In other news: I finally got a new job, and as of Monday April 20th will have a normal schedule. No more weekends, no more holidays, no more nights. I can't wait! It will be a huge boost for our family. My schedule has been a source of much stress for both Andy and I over the past couple of years (not to mention the starting point for many an argument). And I firmly believe I was semi-permanently sleep deprived. So yeah, it is just really great. It doesn't hurt that I will be making a little more money, too. But that's just the cherry on top - what really matters is that our lives are about to be drastically affected, positively, by this change.
I've really been spoiled the last several years by the amazingly easy drive to work I had (about 3 minutes if I don't hit the light and traffic is flowing well), but this new job is still an easy drive. It is a little longer, about 7 minutes when I timed it after my interview (which was during an easy traffic time of day), but really all on one road. Once I turn away from my house onto the Avenue, I only have to make one more turn and then follow the same road all the way there. Couldn't get much easier!
I guess this is enough for now. I will try to make updates sometime soon with pics from our trip to the MN Zoo this past weekend. Andy and I took Kaitlyn and Brianna, alone with auntie Danika and uncle Anthony, and cousins Taylor and Piper. It's a lot of work but we had fun and it was a beautiful day for it.
